§ 8-22. Registration of county license; exempt persons.

  • (a)

    Any person who does not maintain a permanent business location or branch office within the town shall register his county local business tax receipt with the appropriate town authority for the privilege of engaging in or managing any business, occupation or profession within the town's jurisdiction. All of such registrations shall expire on September 30 of each year.

    (b)

    All persons described in section 8-21, claiming exemption from the requirements of that section, shall, before commencing any such activities in the town, register with and obtain a certification of registration and exempt status from the town clerk. Applicants shall exhibit proof satisfactory to the town clerk that they are entitled to such exemption and that they hold certificates of competency or receipts as may be required by any and all governmental agencies to authorize the occupation, business or profession for which application of exemption is made, together with the name and permanent address of the applicant and the person directly responsible for the applicant's activities within the town, and such other data deemed necessary by the town clerk to protect the town and its citizens against unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive business practices or incompetent performance of services.
