Chapter 11. FIRE PROTECTION ASSESSMENTS |
Article III. USE OF THE UNIFORM ASSESSMENT COLLECTION ACT FOR NON-GOVERNMENT PROPERTY |
§ 11-14. Adoption of a resolution.
In order to use the Uniform Assessment Collection Act to collect the fire protection assessments, the town council shall adopt a resolution at a public hearing before January 1 of the year in which the assessments will first be collected pursuant to that act, all as required by F.S. § 197.3632(3), which resolution shall state the following:
(1)
The town's intent to use the uniform method of collecting non-ad valorem fire protection assessments.
(2)
The town's need for the imposition of the non-ad valorem fire protection assessments.
(3)
That the entire town is declared a special-assessment district for the purpose of levying and collecting non-ad valorem fire protection assessments.
The town manager will publish notice of its intent to use the uniform method for collecting the fire protection assessment weekly in a newspaper of general circulation within the town for four consecutive weeks preceding the hearing to adopt the resolution. The notice will comply with the requirements of Section 12D-18.003 of the Florida Administrative Code. If the resolution is adopted, the town manager shall send a copy of it by United States mail to the property appraiser, the tax collector, and the Florida Department of Revenue by January 10.
